Sh*t My Dad Says | Justin Halpern

“Sometimes life leaves a hundred-dollar bill on your dresser, and you don't realize until later it's because it f—ed you.”

Genre: Memoir/Humor.
Number of Pages: 159.
Perspective: First.
Location: California.

Sh*t My Dad Says is based on the wildly popular Twitter page of the same name. Justin describes life with his honest, no BS, no filter father. For a complete summary, you can go here.

Is this book funny? Yes. Is this a great piece of literature? No. Is that ok? Yes. I hope that clears up a lot of other reviews of this book that are floating around out there. People have started to assume that to enjoy a book, it has to be a perfect 300+ page novel. That’s just not the case. This book made me laugh and it was enjoyable. I really can’t ask for much more than that.

At the surface level, Justin’s dad is rough and mean, but if you dig a little deeper, you see that he is caring and would do anything for his family. This family may be a little dysfunctional, but really, what family isn’t? Eventually, I want to write my own version with sayings from my own dad [If you are reading this dad: hi :) ].

I did listen to this as an audiobook and it only took a few hours. I imagine that to read this book on your own, it would take even less than that. It is a quick and entertaining read. It definitely kept me going on my last road trip. My only complaint was that the reader’s voice of the dad got to be a bit annoying.

If you are interested in buying the book, you can buy it here. After you have read it, leave a comment and let me know what you think!

“I don't give a sh— how it happened, the window is broken... Wait, why is there syrup everywhere? Okay, you know what? Now I give a sh— how it happened, Let's hear it.”
